Top-up On Your Vitamin Sea

There’s something about the sea that sorts you out. You don’t even have to understand why it works, it just does. A few days by the water and suddenly you’re breathing a bit deeper, sleeping better, and wondering why you don’t do this more often.

Sheringham’s beaches are wonderfully clean, open, and honest. No drama, no fuss, just big skies, pebbles underfoot, and that endless stretch of water doing its thing. Some days it’s calm and silvery, other days it’s full of energy and attitude, but it always feels alive. And yes, people swim in it. All year round. I watch them from the shore in the colder months, wrapped up like an extra from an Arctic expedition, and think… you are brave, slightly mad, and clearly onto something.

Then there’s James. My other half. He swims whenever he possibly can, and honestly, every day he gets in the sea is his best day ever. He comes back glowing, salt in his hair, eyes bright, full of stories about the temperature and the light and how it felt that day. I don’t ask questions anymore, I just nod and enjoy the energy he brings back with him.

There’s something about being near the sea that feels deeply good for us, even if you never dip a toe in. The air feels different, cleaner somehow, charged. You stand there and it’s as if your body remembers something ancient and important. Not in a preachy, wellness manual way, just in a quiet, oh yes, this feels right sort of way.

And then there’s the quiet. Real quiet. The kind where no one is talking, no phones are buzzing, and your head finally has space. Space to think, or better still, space to think of absolutely nothing at all. Just the sound of the waves, the wind moving across the water, and that huge expanse in front of you that gently puts everything back into perspective.

A stay at Bloomsbury House makes it all wonderfully easy. You can head down to the beach first thing in the morning, coffee in hand, or walk there at dusk when the light softens and the day slows right down. Come back rosy cheeked, salty, and ready for warmth, food, and comfort. Whether you’re here with family, friends, or just for a sneaky escape of your own, the sea does its work quietly in the background.

So if you’re feeling a bit flat, a bit busy, or just in need of a reset, come and top up on your Vitamin Sea. Swim, walk, sit, stare, breathe. Let the water do what it’s been doing forever, soothing souls, clearing heads, and making days feel lighter.

And if you spot a happy swimmer grinning their way back up the beach, chances are it’s James, having the best day ever. Again.

Hope to see you soon warm wishes, Annie x
